Regulations for the Runway competition
Minimum of 4 and maximum of 8 girls per team.

Competition will be divided to 2 sections:
a) Category based
Each team can send a maximum of 2 girls for each category
- casual
- special occasion
- sports
- work

Music/songs during each catwalk for a category will be provided by organizer. A list of music will be given beforehand to team representative

Best dressed in each category will be awarded

b) Team based
Each team will be judged based on the free theme presented on the runway

Changing of clothes for this section is allowed

Music/songs are up to the groups desire however it must be appropriate and reflect the theme presented. Such music should be notified to our representative 2 days before the competition

Any narration or description needed to spoken during the presentation can be forwarded to our MCs of the day beforehand

Model Guidelines

- Each model/team must make sure that:

· The dress/attire is appropriate and suits the category you are in

· The dress/attire is modest and able to highlight the Islamic way of dressing according to Al Quran and Sunnah

- Models must walk slowly and steadily so judges can see. This will affect your presentation marks

- Models must make sure that they do not cover their number during the catwalk which will be given on the day

- Models have to be at the hall at 1030 am for a chance to practice on the runway

- By 12.00pm all models have to be ready and numbered

- Those who are not registered and numbered by 12.15 pm will be disqualified

Judging guidelines

Judges will judge on these 4 aspects

  1. Hijab (most)
  2. Fashion and Style
  3. Catwalk
  4. Integration

Updated – Events and Prizes!

Hijab Fashion Show 2009 is organised by UCD Islamic Society together with the Student Hijab Committee of FOSIS Ireland. It is women’s only event and tickets per entry is 2 euro with 1 euro contributed to Humantarian Fund for Gaza.

Every woman in Ireland regardless of faith and race are welcomed to come and see and experience what the Hijab really means to their Muslim friends or colleagues. It’ll be an afternoon of events. Tickets are available from our agents (as in previous post) or at the door. Tickets a re only 2 euros

You don’t need to register/participate in the runway competition to come on the day. For those interested in the competition, do register by clicking our ‘REGISTRATION ‘ tab on the right navigation bar and our representative will contact you as soon as possible for further information on the day itself

Hijab Fashion Show Events

  • Showcase of various Muslim clothings from different Muslim countries
    A multicultural event showing that the headscarf is worn by different cultures in different parts of the world. Eg, UAE, Libya, Malaysia, Turkey, Morrocco, USA, UK and many more! A unique diversity event that you wouldn’t want to miss!

  • Runway competition among universities
    Open for girls only! A chance for the ladies to put on their best outfits and headscarfs to go and battle out on the runway. All you have to do is get team of girls and use your creativity in designing your style according to the following themes

    • Classes
    • Professional / Workplace
    • Daily and Going Out
    • Events (eg. marriage, eid parties etc)
    • Free theme (not compulsory but will gain extra marks)

    One and only rule in this competition is a headscarf is compulsory and must cover according to Islamic rules. When you got it all, then battle it out on the runway. Please register your team (minimum 4 and a maximum of 8 girls per team) before 31 January 2009. Good news you are not confined to your Isocs! Hurry find your teammates now
