About
This event would give a new Irish perspective on what is meant by Hijab in which the Muslim sisters here hold on to so dearly. Contrary to what most believe, hijab isn’t a sign of oppression but instead a choice made by Muslim sisters to do so for their identity. This is strongly supported by just looking at the reality of Irish community today whereby you can see Muslim women in every level of society: a university student, a doctor, a teacher and more.
A fashion show that shows this side of reality that Hijab is really a part of normal life in the Irish context is essential to correct any misconceptions and would play a bigger role for integration of the Muslim community in Ireland which is increasing year by year
Aims
- To promote that Hijab is more than just a headscarf, it’s a Muslim sister identity and reflects her personality in the society while holding on to her faith
- To correct any misconceptions on the Hijab
